Frequently Asked Questions
Is the RCD Patient Communication Board™ a true whiteboard?
Yes. You can use any dry-erase marker on it. In fact, the surface of our board is much tougher and less permeable than a typical whiteboard. Plus, it reduces ghosting and fading and can withstand harsh bleach and antibacterial cleansers. Even permanent marker, though not recommended, can be removed with just a soft cloth and alcohol.
What sizes does the RCD Patient Communication Board™ come in?
Our boards are custom manufactured to your needs. Just decide what size works best for your room or area, and we will format them to your specifications. Installation is easy at any size.
Do you supply the template forms or do I?
We have an in-house library of templates from which you can choose. Use them “as is” or customize them to your specific information requirements. If you prefer to start from scratch, we will work with you to create a template from a blank piece of paper.
Your boards can be customized unit by unit, board by board, by patient demographic. This enables staff to decide which information is most important for their communications.
You can personalize each board with room numbers, important phone numbers and extensions, key staff member names, or any other piece of information that you want to remain visible on the board. And you can do it in any language or add a translation. It’s also a great way to reinforce your brand image by including your logo and mission statements.
Can I change the templates if my information needs change?
Yes. A new template can be created quickly at a fraction of the cost of a printed whiteboard. Our innovative communication system has made it inexpensive and cost-effective to stay on top of evolving information and communication needs.
What else makes the RCD Patient Communication Board™ so cost-effective and unique?
Our board is composed of three easily-replaceable, independent parts: the anodized aluminum frame, which gets mounted on the wall; the transparent acrylic writing surface, with its specialty dry-erase coating; and the water-resistant paper template, printed to your exact specifications.
Like the template, the acrylic surface and the frame can easily be replaced, although it’s unlikely they’ll need to be.
What are the other benefits to the RCD Patient Communication Board™?
It gives you a clear, concise and easy way to structure and present important information that must be communicated between and among staff members, patients and loved ones. It can dramatically improve the quality of care and increase transparency by providing patients and family members with current information about the patient’s treatment and progress.
Most importantly, the RCD Patient Communication Board can help reduce human errors resulting from miscommunication or different expectations between staff members – all of whom are involved in a patient’s care, but are rarely in the patient’s room at the same time.
It also provides a vehicle for patients and loved ones to ask questions or bring up concerns that don’t require an immediate response and don’t interrupt staff members while they’re caring for other patients.
